Need someone to support with your financial affairs?

There may come a time when you are no longer able or no longer want to make decisions regarding your own financial affairs. In these types of situations, you are able to attain a legal document called a ‘Power of Attorney’, which will allow someone else to make decisions for you and act on your behalf. You may feel it necessary to have a ‘Power of Attorney’ if for example:

  • You are in hospital and need help with everyday tasks such as paying bills (on a temporary basis)
  • You have been diagnosed with a longer-term illness, such as dementia, and you may lose the mental capacity to make your own decisions in the future

There are different types of ‘Power of Attorney’s’ that can be applied for, depending on your circumstances. We have provided a brief summary below but for more information please visit Age UK
